* (All quotations were taken, in the German original, from the Stuttgarter Erklärungsbibel (Stuttgart Explained Bible), 1984 edition; for the English translation, the New English Translation (NET) of 2005 was used for the actual Bible text, while explanations were translated from the Stuttgart Bible original and matched as far as possible to similar or identical explanations in the NET. The quoted, apocryphal Jesus Sirach verses are quoted from the World English Bible of 2020, where they are verses 23, 24 of Sir 25. Also, in rare cases, the NET text was slightly altered, to fit the German Stuttgart Bible text better, which itself uses the modernised, standard version of the translation by Martin Luther, when choices of expression in the NET based on revisiting the original Hebrew or Greek text in a 21st century approach would not fit well into the developments the work presented here bases on these very expressions in the German text.)
